A Guide to Pollutec for First-Time Exhibitors
Pollutec is the leading international exhibition for environmental equipment, technologies and services, and the next flagship edition runs 12–15 October 2027 at Eurexpo Lyon in Chassieu. It has been held every second year since 1978 and is organised by RX France, part of RX Global. The last edition, in October 2025, gathered more than 51,000 professional participants from over 100 countries and around 2,000 exhibitors, roughly 200 of them start-ups.
One point is worth settling before you plan anything: there are two Pollutec events, and they are not the same show. Pollutec Lyon is the four-day flagship at Eurexpo in odd years. STEP by Pollutec — the event that used to be called Pollutec Paris — is a compact two-day show at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles in even years, with its next edition on 1–2 December 2026. Confirm which one your booking is for before you brief a stand builder, because the venue, the scale and the city are all different.
Who Exhibits at Pollutec and What Visitors Want
The floor spans eleven sectors: water and sanitation; waste and recycling; air, odours and noise; energy; risk prevention and management; polluted sites and soils; instrumentation, metrology and analysis; biodiversity and bioeconomy; finance and insurance; public bodies; and sustainable cities and territories. Exhibitors range from component and analyser suppliers through to full treatment houses, engineering consultancies and equipment manufacturers.
The visitor is rarely an impulse buyer. They are utility engineers, municipal and regional procurement officers, industrial environment and EHS managers, and consultants scoping schemes for clients. They arrive with a problem — a discharge limit, a waste stream, a decarbonisation target, a tender to fill — and they are assessing whether you can deliver a solution over months and years. Two things qualify you fast on this floor: a clear, plainly stated technical and regulatory position, and somewhere to sit down and go through their specific case. A stand that offers both gets fewer but far better conversations.
Stand Size: Choosing Between 9, 18, 24 and 48 Square Metres
Nine square metres suits a component, instrumentation or consultancy exhibitor whose offer is essentially a specification and a conversation. You get a counter, a back wall and standing discussions. What you cannot really do at this size is seat a buyer or run equipment with room around it.
Eighteen square metres is the first size where a small seated corner becomes possible, which matters more here than at most shows because the sale is a project. It suits distributors and specialists who need a display and a proper conversation but are not running heavy plant.
Twenty-four square metres is the threshold at which a genuine meeting space and a serviced equipment position both fit. If you are demonstrating a treatment or measurement rig, or you expect to be walking procurement teams through schemes, treat 24 m² as the working minimum.
At 48 m² you can hold two or three private conversations at once and still show equipment — the normal shape for an engineering house or a manufacturer with a live demo. From 80 m² upward, a double-decker adds meeting rooms above without spending the ground-floor area that equipment and traffic need, which on this floor is the area under pressure.
What a Pollutec Stand Costs by Size
Ranges below are all-in for design, fabrication on a reusable frame, graphics, domestic road freight, install and dismantle. They exclude the floor space rental you pay to RX France, and the power, water and waste orders placed with the venue.
- 9 m² modular: €4,100–€8,700
- 18 m² modular with a seated corner: €4,800–€10,100
- 24 m² custom with a meeting space and one serviced position: €11,500–€15,000
- 30 m² custom with an enclosed meeting room: €15,000–€19,000
- 48 m² custom with equipment and multiple meeting areas: €19,000–€26,000
- 80 m² premium or double-decker: €34,000–€48,000
Common Mistakes, in Order of Frequency
The most common is treating a project show like a product show — a big graphic wall and nowhere to sit down, so the long technical conversations that actually close business happen standing in the aisle or not at all. The second is leaving the equipment weight and services until after the design is signed, so the platform has to be reworked on site. The third is a single-use build at an environmental exhibition, which quietly undermines the message you came to sell and which your own ESG team will question. The fourth is writing the stand only in French for a floor where more than a hundred countries are represented. The fifth is confusing the Lyon flagship with the Paris STEP event and planning for the wrong venue entirely. All five are settled at briefing stage or not at all.
Getting Started
Send your stand size, your hall and stand number if RX France has issued it, and the equipment list — crated weight, footprint, power draw and whether anything needs a water feed. Tell us too whether your ESG or marketing team needs documented material provenance, because that is easiest to build in from the start. You get a 3D design and an itemised all-in quote, at no charge and with no obligation.
Because Pollutec is biennial and is a show about sustainability, a reusable structure is the natural purchase here — it is the credible answer on the floor and the economical one across the two-year gap, since the next edition costs a graphics refresh rather than a rebuild. Our modular exhibition stands are built for exactly that pattern.
