What a 9 m² modular stand costs
European market rates put a full 9 m² modular build at roughly €4,100 to €8,700, which is about €456 to €967 per square metre at this footprint. Smaller stands carry a higher rate per square metre than large ones, because freight and crew are largely fixed regardless of area. The spread is wide because the structure is only part of the cost. Height drives it first: a stand with a three-metre fascia and a suspended lighting rig sits near the top of the range, while a two-and-a-half-metre wall system with structure-mounted lighting sits near the bottom.
Graphics are the second variable. Printed panels are inexpensive; backlit lightboxes cost several times more per square metre and change how the stand reads from the aisle in a way that photographs never quite capture. Furniture is the third — catalogue pieces are included in the figures above, bespoke joinery is not.
What the range does not include is the floor itself. Space rental at a major German show runs somewhere between €180 and €400 per square metre before the stand exists, and organiser fees for power, waste and passes are charged separately again. We quote the build; the venue quotes the rest, and we will tell you what to budget for both.
One thing worth weighing at this size: the system is an asset, not a consumable. Spread across three appearances the per-show cost falls to a fraction of the first build, since only graphics and crew recur. If your calendar has one show in it, say so and we will price the alternatives honestly — a bespoke build sometimes makes more sense for a single flagship appearance.
Designing for 9 square metres
What 9 m² actually gives you
One message, one counter, and storage only if it lives inside the counter. There is no version of 3×3 m that holds a seated meeting and a product wall at the same time — choosing which one you need is the whole design decision here.
Height is your only spare dimension
You cannot widen a 9 m² plot, so the usable space runs upward. A raised fascia or a lit header takes the brand above the aisle crowd, which matters more at this footprint than at any other. Check the hall limit first: some cap inline stands at 2.5 m.
Build time at this size
Half a day for structure and graphics together. A 9 m² build almost never touches the edges of a build-up window, which makes it the practical choice for shows where you arrive late or exhibit on a tight travel schedule.

How much does a 9 m² modular stand cost?
A full 9 m² modular build runs roughly €4,100–€8,700 in the European market — about €456–€967 per square metre. Small stands carry a higher rate per m² than large ones because freight and crew are largely fixed regardless of footprint: the same truck and the same two-person team turn up for 9 m² as for 30 m². That covers structure, graphics, lighting, catalogue furniture, installation and dismantling.
Why is 9 m² more expensive per square metre than a larger stand?
Because most of the cost at this size is not the stand. Freight both ways, crew accommodation and subsistence, and the graphics setup do not shrink with the footprint. Spread over nine square metres those fixed costs dominate; spread over sixty they almost disappear. It is the main reason a flat per-m² rate across all sizes is misleading.
How many people can staff a 9 m² stand?
Two, comfortably. Three is possible if one is presenting and the others rotate off-stand, but a third person standing idle occupies space a visitor needs. If you are bringing four staff, the honest answer is that you have booked the wrong size rather than the wrong layout.
Can I have storage at 9 m²?
Inside the counter, yes — a lockable compartment in the counter base is standard at this size. A separate storeroom is not realistic: an enclosed cupboard of even one square metre removes more than a tenth of your floor. Most exhibitors here keep a day’s literature on the stand and the rest in the venue cloakroom.
How long does it take to build?
About half a day including graphics and lighting. It is the fastest footprint we install, which makes it workable for shows where the build-up window is short or where you are travelling in the day before.
Will it work on a corner plot?
Yes, and it changes the design. A 9 m² corner has two open sides, which roughly doubles the approach frontage and usually moves the counter off the back wall into the open angle. Tell us the stand number rather than just the area, because a corner and an inline plot of the same size are different briefs.
Can this system grow later?
It is the main argument for buying rather than renting at this size. The same profiles extend into an 18 or 20 m² configuration with additional parts, and the original graphic panels can usually be re-cut rather than reprinted. Tell us at design stage if you expect to grow, so the first purchase anticipates the second.
What is not included in the price?
Floor rental, venue power and organiser fees sit outside it, as they do at every size. The two that catch 9 m² exhibitors specifically are cloakroom charges — because bulk literature cannot live on the stand — and AV hire, since a screen at this footprint is nearly always rented rather than owned. Staff, catering and between-show storage are also quoted separately.
