What a 54 m² modular stand costs
European market rates put a full 54 m² modular build at roughly €8,900 to €18,900, which is about €165 to €350 per square metre, the settled rate for large modular work. Specification — materials, lighting density, rigging — moves the figure far more than the extra square metres do. The spread is wide because the structure is only part of the cost. Height drives it first: a stand with a three-metre fascia and a suspended lighting rig sits near the top of the range, while a two-and-a-half-metre wall system with structure-mounted lighting sits near the bottom.
Graphics are the second variable. Printed panels are inexpensive; backlit lightboxes cost several times more per square metre and change how the stand reads from the aisle in a way that photographs never quite capture. Furniture is the third — catalogue pieces are included in the figures above, bespoke joinery is not.
What the range does not include is the floor itself. Space rental at a major German show runs somewhere between €180 and €400 per square metre before the stand exists, and organiser fees for power, waste and passes are charged separately again. We quote the build; the venue quotes the rest, and we will tell you what to budget for both.
One thing worth weighing at this size: the system is an asset, not a consumable. Spread across three appearances the per-show cost falls to a fraction of the first build, since only graphics and crew recur. If your calendar has one show in it, say so and we will price the alternatives honestly — a bespoke build sometimes makes more sense for a single flagship appearance.

It is the decision that shapes the stand. Two four-person rooms suit a sales team running back-to-back appointments; one eight-person room suits a single group presentation or a partner meeting. The floor cost is similar and the stand that results is not.

A day and a half to two days for structure, plus a full day for graphics, lighting and dressing. Enclosed rooms add doors, lighting circuits and acoustic panels, all of which take time that an open floor does not.

How much does a 54 m² modular stand cost?
European market rates put a full 54 m² build at roughly €8,900–€18,900, about €165–€350 per square metre. Enclosed rooms are the main cost driver here — each one adds panels, a door, a lighting circuit and, where the conversations warrant it, acoustic treatment. Floor rental, venue power, organiser fees and travel are quoted separately.
Two four-person rooms or one room for eight?
Two rooms if you are running a diary of back-to-back appointments, which is what most exhibitors at this size are doing. One larger room if the meetings are group presentations or partner briefings. The floor cost is similar; the resulting stand is not, so it is worth deciding before the first drawing.
Is the privacy in a modular meeting room real?
Only if it is specified. A standard wall system gives visual privacy and very little acoustic separation, which is worse than an open table because people assume they cannot be heard. Where the conversations warrant it we specify acoustic panelling and say so in the quote rather than absorbing it quietly.
How much display area is left?
Around thirty square metres after two rooms and circulation, which is a full display run plus greeting. The exterior faces of the rooms themselves add more usable graphic area than a perimeter wall of the same length, because they are uninterrupted by entrances.
How many appointments can the stand handle in a day?
With two four-person rooms and thirty-minute slots, comfortably twenty across a show day, with the open area absorbing walk-ups in between. The practical limit is usually staff numbers rather than rooms.
How long does it take to build?
A day and a half to two days for structure and a full day for graphics, lighting and dressing. Enclosed rooms are what add the time — doors, lighting circuits and acoustic panels all take hours an open floor does not.
Can the rooms be removed for a smaller show?
Yes. The same profiles rebuild as a 30 or 45 m² open stand with a screened seating area instead of closed rooms. The wall panels and doors are the parts that go into storage unused, so we plan the graphics so the panels can be redeployed as display surfaces rather than sitting idle.
What is not included in the price?
Floor rental, venue power and organiser fees. Two to plan for here are per-circuit power charges, since each enclosed room needs its own supply, and daily stand cleaning, which most venues bill separately at this footprint. AV hire, staff, catering and between-show storage are also separate.
