What a 28 m² modular stand costs
European market rates put a full 28 m² modular build at roughly €5,500 to €11,600, which is about €196 to €414 per square metre. Fixed freight and crew still carry noticeable weight at this footprint, though less than they do below twenty square metres. The spread is wide because the structure is only part of the cost. Height drives it first: a stand with a three-metre fascia and a suspended lighting rig sits near the top of the range, while a two-and-a-half-metre wall system with structure-mounted lighting sits near the bottom.
Graphics are the second variable. Printed panels are inexpensive; backlit lightboxes cost several times more per square metre and change how the stand reads from the aisle in a way that photographs never quite capture. Furniture is the third — catalogue pieces are included in the figures above, bespoke joinery is not.
What the range does not include is the floor itself. Space rental at a major German show runs somewhere between €180 and €400 per square metre before the stand exists, and organiser fees for power, waste and passes are charged separately again. We quote the build; the venue quotes the rest, and we will tell you what to budget for both.
One thing worth weighing at this size: the system is an asset, not a consumable. Spread across three appearances the per-show cost falls to a fraction of the first build, since only graphics and crew recur. If your calendar has one show in it, say so and we will price the alternatives honestly — a bespoke build sometimes makes more sense for a single flagship appearance.

The useful question at this size is not what to include but where the dividing line runs. A counter placed on the join between the two zones does double duty; a counter placed at the aisle turns the far half of the stand into dead ground.
Build time at this size
A day to a day and a quarter for the structure, plus half a day for graphics, lighting and dressing. Two-zone layouts have more panels than a single open floor, which is where the extra hours go.

How much does a 28 m² modular stand cost?
A full 28 m² build runs roughly €5,500–€11,600, about €196–€414 per square metre. The two-zone layouts this size is built for carry more panels and more lighting circuits than a single open floor, which is what pushes a project towards the upper end. Structure, graphics, lighting, catalogue furniture, installation and dismantling are covered; floor rental, venue power, organiser fees and travel are not.
Can two things really happen at once on 28 m²?
Yes, and it is the reason to choose this size over 24. Two zones with their own circulation mean a browsing visitor and a seated meeting do not share floor. Below about 26 m² the zones start borrowing space from each other and the separation becomes notional.
Where should the counter go?
On the join between the two zones, in almost every case. Placed at the aisle it greets people well and makes the rear half of the stand dead ground. Placed on the join it serves both zones and gives staff a sightline across the whole stand.
Can I have a fully enclosed meeting room?
Yes, at around eight to ten square metres including the door swing. That leaves eighteen to twenty for everything else, which is workable but tight. If the reason is privacy rather than confidentiality, a screened lounge costs a fraction and keeps the stand looking its full size.
How much storage do I get?
Two to three square metres as a lockable room. That is the threshold where bulk literature and packaging live on the stand for the whole show rather than being ferried from a cloakroom, which is a noticeable difference on a four-day event.
How long does it take to build?
A day to a day and a quarter for structure, plus half a day for graphics and dressing. The extra hours over a smaller stand go into the additional panels and lighting circuits that a two-zone layout needs.
Can the system be reconfigured?
Yes. It regroups into 18 or 20 m² for smaller allocations and extends towards 45 or 48 m² with additional profiles. The two-zone principle does not survive the move downwards — below 26 m² the parts rebuild as a single-zone stand.
What is not included in the price?
Floor rental, venue power and organiser fees. At this size the one worth planning for is the lighting supply: two zones usually mean two circuits, and venues bill power by connection as well as by rating. AV hire, staff, catering and between-show storage are quoted separately.
