What a 18 m² modular stand costs
European market rates put a full 18 m² modular build at roughly €4,800 to €10,100, which is about €267 to €561 per square metre at this footprint. Smaller stands carry a higher rate per square metre than large ones, because freight and crew are largely fixed regardless of area. The spread is wide because the structure is only part of the cost. Height drives it first: a stand with a three-metre fascia and a suspended lighting rig sits near the top of the range, while a two-and-a-half-metre wall system with structure-mounted lighting sits near the bottom.
Graphics are the second variable. Printed panels are inexpensive; backlit lightboxes cost several times more per square metre and change how the stand reads from the aisle in a way that photographs never quite capture. Furniture is the third — catalogue pieces are included in the figures above, bespoke joinery is not.
What the range does not include is the floor itself. Space rental at a major German show runs somewhere between €180 and €400 per square metre before the stand exists, and organiser fees for power, waste and passes are charged separately again. We quote the build; the venue quotes the rest, and we will tell you what to budget for both.
One thing worth weighing at this size: the system is an asset, not a consumable. Spread across three appearances the per-show cost falls to a fraction of the first build, since only graphics and crew recur. If your calendar has one show in it, say so and we will price the alternatives honestly — a bespoke build sometimes makes more sense for a single flagship appearance.
Designing for 18 square metres
What 18 m² actually gives you
Three functions instead of one: a welcome point, a display run of four to six metres, and roughly one square metre of enclosed storage. What it does not give you is a closed meeting room — an enclosed room at this size takes a third of the floor and starves everything else.
Depth matters more than width
A 6×3 m plot and a 4.5×4 m plot are both 18 m² and behave differently. The shallow plot puts everything on one plane and reads well from the aisle; the deeper plot allows a front zone and a back zone. We ask for the plot dimensions, not just the area, before drawing.
Build time at this size
Around a day for structure, graphics and lighting together. Comfortably inside a standard two-day build-up, with enough margin to fix a graphics fault on site rather than living with it.

How much does an 18 m² modular stand cost?
A full 18 m² modular build runs roughly €4,800–€10,100, about €267–€561 per square metre. What moves a project within that spread at this size is mostly the display run: a six-metre lit product wall costs several times a plain graphic panel of the same length. Structure, graphics, lighting, catalogue furniture, installation and dismantling are included; floor rental, venue power, organiser fees and travel are not.
Can I have a closed meeting room at 18 m²?
Technically yes, practically rarely. A four-person enclosed room takes eight to ten square metres once the door swing and table are counted, which is more than half your floor and leaves almost nothing for display. We normally propose a screened seating pod instead: two square metres, visually separate, a fraction of the cost.
How many staff and visitors does it hold?
Three staff working comfortably, and six to eight visitors at once before circulation starts to break down. Beyond that people begin queueing into the aisle, which venues discourage and which costs you the passers-by you were trying to attract.
How much storage do I get?
Roughly one square metre as an enclosed storeroom, normally placed directly behind the counter. That is the point in the range where storage stops being a compartment and becomes a room you can step into, which matters on a three-day show when someone has to restock without walking through the display.
How long does it take to build?
About a day for structure, graphics and lighting. That sits comfortably inside a standard two-day build-up window at the major German venues, with margin left for a same-day graphics reprint if something arrives wrong.
Does a corner plot change the design?
Substantially. A corner gives two approaches and removes the natural back wall, so the display has to read from both sides and the counter usually moves onto the diagonal. Send the stand number with your enquiry — an 18 m² corner and an 18 m² inline are different briefs at the same price.
Can the same system be used at other sizes?
Yes, in both directions. The parts regroup down to a 9 m² configuration for regional shows and extend towards 27 or 30 m² with additional profiles. Graphics are what change per configuration, so we plan the artwork so the main panels survive a reconfiguration instead of being scrapped with the layout.
What is not included in the price?
The usual exclusions — floor rental, venue power connection, organiser fees — plus two worth naming at 18 m². Furniture beyond the agreed specification is the first: the catalogue allowance covers the seating pod, and additional pieces are added at cost. The second is between-show storage, which becomes a live question here because this is the first size most exhibitors buy outright rather than rent.
