Why Exhibitors Choose SOL Germany for Intersolar Europe

A solar stand is an electrical and structural job wearing a design brief. Exhibitors here bring inverters they intend to run, hybrid units they intend to switch between modes, and modules that weigh what modules weigh. The power order is usually several times what a comparable stand needs at a general trade fair, three-phase supply is routine rather than exceptional, and supply positions are fixed to the floor plan long before anyone approves a render. We settle the electrical layout first and let the design resolve around it — the reverse order is how cable runs end up crossing the aisle-facing corner.

The structure is built and dry-assembled on our own floor in Frankfurt, photographed for your approval, then driven roughly 390 kilometres to Munich. Domestic road freight, no border, no customs file, no temporary-import paperwork on the critical path. For an exhibitor shipping product in from outside the EU that matters more than it sounds: the goods can have their own timeline without the stand being hostage to it.

One scheduling point specific to 2027. The exhibition moves two weeks earlier than the 2026 edition, and every organiser and venue deadline moves with it — space application, static calculations for two-storey builds, services orders, freight slots. Anyone working from last year's calendar will be roughly a fortnight late on all of them.

Power Is the Line Item, Not the Wall

This is the Intersolar-specific one. On most stands the electrical order is a formality — a few sockets, some lighting. Here it is a design constraint. Exhibitors run inverters live, cycle hybrid units between grid and battery modes, and leave demonstration equipment powered for three full days. Three-phase 400 V is normal on stands of any size, the supply position is fixed to the floor plan and cannot be moved once the hall build starts, and the order deadline sits well before the design deadline most exhibitors are working to. We ask for the equipment list before we draw anything, because the answer changes where the walls go.

Weight, and the Fact That You Cannot Carry It In Yourself

Modules, mounting rails, ballast blocks and inverter cabinets are heavy, and the weight is concentrated rather than spread. Two things follow. Floor loading needs checking against the hall rather than assumed, and — the part that catches people — mechanical handling inside the halls runs through the appointed logistics contractor. You cannot simply arrive with a pallet on the last build-up morning and find a forklift. Handling gets booked with the freight, weeks ahead, not on the day.

The Outdoor Area Is a Construction Site, Not a Stand

Intersolar takes outdoor space as well as halls, and exhibitors are drawn to it for tracker systems, carports and full mounting assemblies. It is a genuinely different build. There is no hall roof to rig from, wind loading has to be calculated rather than waved at, ballast has to be brought in, and the whole thing has to survive whatever Munich does for a week in June. If you are considering outdoor space, treat it as a separate project with its own approvals — not as indoor space with better light.

Two-Storey Approval Closes Earlier Than You Think

Double-decker stands at Messe München need static calculations and hall-specific approval submitted by a fixed deadline months ahead of build-up, and approval is not automatic. The 2027 edition compounds this: because the show sits two weeks earlier than 2026, that deadline lands two weeks earlier too. If a two-storey build is even a possibility, we start the structural drawings at the same time as the concept drawings rather than after sign-off.

Four Shows, One Week, One Hotel Market

The smarter E week puts four exhibitions into Messe München simultaneously, and Munich's hotel stock absorbs that badly. Crew accommodation, client accommodation and contractor day rates all move sharply for the week, and they move early — by the time the design is approved the reasonable options are gone. We book crew beds when the space is booked, not when the stand is signed off, and we tell clients to do the same for their own team.

The organiser's own quick facts state 2,600 exhibitors, 200,000 square metres and over 100,000 visitors — and state clearly that these are totals for The smarter E Europe across all four shows. Half the pages you will read about this event quote those numbers as if they described Intersolar alone. If you size a staffing rota or a lead target off the alliance figure, you will overstaff and then be disappointed by a perfectly good show. Plan against your own hall and your own segment.

A Practical Guide to Exhibiting at Intersolar Europe

Intersolar Europe is the world's leading exhibition for the solar industry and has been running under the motto Connecting Solar Business for more than thirty years. The 2027 edition takes place from Tuesday 8 to Thursday 10 June 2027 at Messe München, using halls A1 to A6, B3 and B4, C1 and C4, together with the outdoor area. Doors open at 09:00 each day and close at 18:00 on the Tuesday and Wednesday and at 17:00 on the Thursday.

Two dates before that matter. The Intersolar Europe Conference runs on 7 and 8 June at the ICM München, which means it opens the day before the exhibition floor does. If anyone from your team is speaking, the stand needs to be finished and photographable by the evening of 7 June rather than the morning of 8 June. And the ticket shop opens in February 2027, which is the practical starting gun for visitor-side promotion.

Intersolar Is One of Four Shows — and the Numbers Reflect That

Intersolar Europe does not run alone. It sits inside The smarter E Europe, an alliance of four exhibitions held in the same halls in the same week: Intersolar Europe for photovoltaics and solar thermal, ees Europe for storage and batteries, Power2Drive Europe for charging infrastructure and electric mobility, and EM-Power Europe for smart grids and energy management. Visitors move between all four on one visit.

This is genuinely useful — a storage manufacturer meets solar EPCs without changing halls — but it distorts every published statistic. The organiser's own quick facts for 2027 expect 2,600 exhibitors, 200,000 square metres of exhibition space and more than 100,000 visitors, and the organiser is explicit that those are totals for The smarter E Europe in total. Intersolar is a large part of that, not all of it. Plan your staffing, your lead targets and your stand size against the traffic your own segment will realistically see, and treat the alliance figure as context rather than as a forecast.

The Date Slot Moves — Do Not Plan From Last Year

Intersolar Europe is annual, but the position in the calendar is not fixed. The 2025 edition ran 7–9 May. The 2026 edition ran 23–25 June. The 2027 edition runs 8–10 June. That is a swing of roughly seven weeks across three editions, and it has practical consequences that go beyond diary management.

Every organiser and venue deadline is anchored to the show dates, not to the calendar month. Space application, services orders, static calculations for two-storey stands, freight slots and build-up passes all move when the show moves. Because 2027 falls two weeks earlier than 2026, an exhibitor working from last year's schedule will be about a fortnight late on every one of them. The safe habit is to work backwards from the confirmed 2027 dates and to re-check the deadline list against the organiser's own exhibitor pages rather than against an internal document written last summer.

What a Solar Stand Has to Carry

The defining constraint at Intersolar is not aesthetic, it is electrical and structural. Exhibitors run inverters live for three days, switch hybrid systems between grid and battery modes in front of visitors, and display modules and mounting assemblies that are heavy and awkwardly balanced. Three-phase 400 V supply is ordinary here rather than exceptional, and the total power draw on a mid-size stand can be several times what a comparable stand needs at a general industrial fair.

That has design consequences. Supply positions are fixed to the floor plan and cannot be relocated once the hall build begins, so the electrical layout has to be decided before the walls are drawn rather than after. Heavy displays need reinforced plinths and a floor-loading check against the specific hall rather than a general assumption. And cable management has to be designed in, because a demonstration stand with visible cable runs across a visitor route reads as unfinished no matter how good the graphics are. We ask exhibitors for the equipment list — model numbers, weights, power draw, whether anything needs water — before we draw a single wall.

Hall Space, Outdoor Space, and the Difference Between Them

Intersolar occupies a substantial footprint at Messe München — halls A1 through A6, B3 and B4, C1 and C4, plus the outdoor area. The outdoor plots are attractive for anyone showing trackers, carports, ground-mount systems or full mounting assemblies at real scale, and they are a genuinely different proposition from an indoor stand.

Outdoors there is no hall structure to rig from, so anything overhead has to be self-supporting. Wind loading has to be calculated and the structure ballasted accordingly. Weather protection is your problem rather than the venue's. Approvals are separate from the indoor process. None of that is a reason to avoid outdoor space — a full mounting system standing in daylight sells better than a photograph of one — but it should be scoped and budgeted as its own project, with its own timeline, rather than treated as indoor space with a nicer view.

Building From Frankfurt, Showing in Munich

Our workshop is in Frankfurt and Munich is roughly 390 kilometres away by road — four hours or so, domestic freight, no border and no customs file. We build and dry-assemble the complete structure on our own floor, photograph it for your approval while it is still standing in Frankfurt, then dismantle, load and drive it south. Problems get found in a workshop where we have tools and spare material, rather than in a hall on a build-up deadline.

For exhibitors importing product from outside the EU this separation is worth having. Your modules, inverters or sample units can run on their own customs timeline without the stand being tied to it — if the goods are delayed you still have a finished stand, and you are negotiating about a display item rather than about whether you have anything to exhibit at all. We also keep the structure in storage between editions where clients want to reuse it, which for an annual show with a moving date is usually the cheaper pattern.

Because Intersolar runs annually, a reusable system frame tends to pay for itself faster here than at a biennial show — the structure stays in our Frankfurt warehouse between editions and the next year costs a graphics refresh and freight rather than a rebuild. Are the 100,000 visitors all Intersolar visitors?

No, and this matters when you plan. The organiser's quick facts expect more than 100,000 visitors, 2,600 exhibitors and 200,000 square metres of space, and state that those are totals across all four shows of The smarter E Europe. Intersolar is a large share of that but not the whole of it. Size your stand and your staffing rota against the traffic your own segment will see.

What is included in that price?

Free 3D design before you sign anything, build and inspection at our Frankfurt workshop, road freight to Messe München, installation and dismantling by our own crew, an on-site supervisor, organiser paperwork, and a dedicated project manager from brief through to the empty floor after dismantle.

What is not included?

Floor space rented from the organiser, hall services ordered directly from Messe München such as power supply and connections, catering, your own travel and accommodation, and outdoor plots where these are taken in addition to indoor space. These sit outside the build price on every quote we issue.

How much power will I need for live inverters?

More than you would need at a general trade fair — three-phase 400 V supply is routine on solar stands rather than exceptional. The honest answer depends entirely on your equipment list, which is why we ask for model numbers, weights and power draw before we draw anything. What we can say generally is that the electrical order has an earlier deadline than most exhibitors expect, and that supply positions cannot be moved once the hall build starts.

Can I run a battery storage system on the stand?

Usually yes, but it is not simply an electrical question — battery systems on a stand attract additional safety and documentation requirements from the venue and the organiser, and the rules differ by chemistry and capacity. Tell us at the brief stage rather than at the design-approval stage, and we will confirm the current requirement with the venue before the layout is fixed rather than after.

How long does the whole process take?

Twenty-eight days from approved design to a finished stand on the show floor is a normal timeline for us. The design itself is faster — a first 3D concept usually comes back within 48 hours of a clear brief. What genuinely cannot be compressed is the organiser and venue deadline chain: space application, services orders and, for two-storey stands, structural approval.

Do you build in Munich or ship from Frankfurt?

We build and dry-assemble the complete structure at our Frankfurt workshop, photograph it for your approval while it is still standing, then dismantle it and drive it roughly 390 kilometres to Munich. Domestic road freight, no border and no customs file. Our own crew installs it in the hall.

Can I reuse the stand at the next edition?

Do you handle the organiser paperwork?

Yes. Stand design submission, technical drawings, height and structure declarations and the venue's own forms are handled as part of the project. Anything that has to be ordered in your company's name — floor space and some hall services — we prepare and tell you exactly when to submit.

Can we have a two-storey stand?

Yes, and Intersolar is a show where they earn their cost, because a hospitality level above a busy demonstration floor solves a real problem. The constraint is timing rather than engineering: static calculations and hall-specific approval have to be submitted by a fixed deadline months ahead, and approval is not automatic. Because the 2027 show sits two weeks earlier than 2026, that deadline moves earlier too. Raise it in the first conversation, not after the concept is approved.

What about outdoor space?

Intersolar takes outdoor plots as well as halls, and they suit trackers, carports and full mounting assemblies shown at real scale. Treat it as a separate project. We are happy to build outdoor, but it is scoped and quoted on its own terms.

When should I book space and start on the stand?

Space first, and as early as you can — hall position is allocated broadly in application order, and at a four-show alliance the good positions go quickly. Nine to twelve months ahead is a reasonable target for space. The stand can follow, but it should start early enough to clear the services and structural deadlines, which for 2027 all sit two weeks earlier than their 2026 equivalents.

Do you do graphics and print as well?

Yes. Graphic design and print are part of every package, with two revision rounds included. For a technical audience we usually argue for fewer words and larger type — a visitor walking a 200,000 square metre alliance is scanning, not reading, and a wall of specification text reads as noise at three metres.

What size stand do I actually need?

It depends on what has to run on it. If you are showing components, monitoring software or documentation, 9 to 18 m² is enough and the money is better spent on graphics and lighting. One live demonstration position and somewhere to sit down means 24 m² at minimum. Two demonstration positions plus an enclosed meeting area means 48 m². Below those thresholds something gets squeezed, and it is usually the meeting space.

Who is on site during the show?

An on-site supervisor for the full build-up and the show days, and your project manager reachable throughout. Solar stands have running equipment on them, which means there is more that can need attention mid-show than on a static stand — someone from our side stays close enough to deal with it.
