A Practical Guide to Exhibiting at Intersolar Europe
Intersolar Europe is the world's leading exhibition for the solar industry and has been running under the motto Connecting Solar Business for more than thirty years. The 2027 edition takes place from Tuesday 8 to Thursday 10 June 2027 at Messe München, using halls A1 to A6, B3 and B4, C1 and C4, together with the outdoor area. Doors open at 09:00 each day and close at 18:00 on the Tuesday and Wednesday and at 17:00 on the Thursday.
Two dates before that matter. The Intersolar Europe Conference runs on 7 and 8 June at the ICM München, which means it opens the day before the exhibition floor does. If anyone from your team is speaking, the stand needs to be finished and photographable by the evening of 7 June rather than the morning of 8 June. And the ticket shop opens in February 2027, which is the practical starting gun for visitor-side promotion.
Intersolar Is One of Four Shows — and the Numbers Reflect That
Intersolar Europe does not run alone. It sits inside The smarter E Europe, an alliance of four exhibitions held in the same halls in the same week: Intersolar Europe for photovoltaics and solar thermal, ees Europe for storage and batteries, Power2Drive Europe for charging infrastructure and electric mobility, and EM-Power Europe for smart grids and energy management. Visitors move between all four on one visit.
This is genuinely useful — a storage manufacturer meets solar EPCs without changing halls — but it distorts every published statistic. The organiser's own quick facts for 2027 expect 2,600 exhibitors, 200,000 square metres of exhibition space and more than 100,000 visitors, and the organiser is explicit that those are totals for The smarter E Europe in total. Intersolar is a large part of that, not all of it. Plan your staffing, your lead targets and your stand size against the traffic your own segment will realistically see, and treat the alliance figure as context rather than as a forecast.
The Date Slot Moves — Do Not Plan From Last Year
Intersolar Europe is annual, but the position in the calendar is not fixed. The 2025 edition ran 7–9 May. The 2026 edition ran 23–25 June. The 2027 edition runs 8–10 June. That is a swing of roughly seven weeks across three editions, and it has practical consequences that go beyond diary management.
Every organiser and venue deadline is anchored to the show dates, not to the calendar month. Space application, services orders, static calculations for two-storey stands, freight slots and build-up passes all move when the show moves. Because 2027 falls two weeks earlier than 2026, an exhibitor working from last year's schedule will be about a fortnight late on every one of them. The safe habit is to work backwards from the confirmed 2027 dates and to re-check the deadline list against the organiser's own exhibitor pages rather than against an internal document written last summer.
What a Solar Stand Has to Carry
The defining constraint at Intersolar is not aesthetic, it is electrical and structural. Exhibitors run inverters live for three days, switch hybrid systems between grid and battery modes in front of visitors, and display modules and mounting assemblies that are heavy and awkwardly balanced. Three-phase 400 V supply is ordinary here rather than exceptional, and the total power draw on a mid-size stand can be several times what a comparable stand needs at a general industrial fair.
That has design consequences. Supply positions are fixed to the floor plan and cannot be relocated once the hall build begins, so the electrical layout has to be decided before the walls are drawn rather than after. Heavy displays need reinforced plinths and a floor-loading check against the specific hall rather than a general assumption. And cable management has to be designed in, because a demonstration stand with visible cable runs across a visitor route reads as unfinished no matter how good the graphics are. We ask exhibitors for the equipment list — model numbers, weights, power draw, whether anything needs water — before we draw a single wall.
Hall Space, Outdoor Space, and the Difference Between Them
Intersolar occupies a substantial footprint at Messe München — halls A1 through A6, B3 and B4, C1 and C4, plus the outdoor area. The outdoor plots are attractive for anyone showing trackers, carports, ground-mount systems or full mounting assemblies at real scale, and they are a genuinely different proposition from an indoor stand.
Outdoors there is no hall structure to rig from, so anything overhead has to be self-supporting. Wind loading has to be calculated and the structure ballasted accordingly. Weather protection is your problem rather than the venue's. Approvals are separate from the indoor process. None of that is a reason to avoid outdoor space — a full mounting system standing in daylight sells better than a photograph of one — but it should be scoped and budgeted as its own project, with its own timeline, rather than treated as indoor space with a nicer view.
Building From Frankfurt, Showing in Munich
Our workshop is in Frankfurt and Munich is roughly 390 kilometres away by road — four hours or so, domestic freight, no border and no customs file. We build and dry-assemble the complete structure on our own floor, photograph it for your approval while it is still standing in Frankfurt, then dismantle, load and drive it south. Problems get found in a workshop where we have tools and spare material, rather than in a hall on a build-up deadline.
For exhibitors importing product from outside the EU this separation is worth having. Your modules, inverters or sample units can run on their own customs timeline without the stand being tied to it — if the goods are delayed you still have a finished stand, and you are negotiating about a display item rather than about whether you have anything to exhibit at all. We also keep the structure in storage between editions where clients want to reuse it, which for an annual show with a moving date is usually the cheaper pattern.
Because Intersolar runs annually, a reusable system frame tends to pay for itself faster here than at a biennial show — the structure stays in our Frankfurt warehouse between editions and the next year costs a graphics refresh and freight rather than a rebuild.
