If the complete design guide is the textbook, this is the checklist — the five things a winning booth design gets right, in a form you can hold a design up against. Use it to brief a designer or to judge a render you've been shown.
1. A clear single message
A winning design says one thing, clearly, from a distance. Walk twenty metres back from the render: can you read what the company does and why it matters? If it's a wall of small text, it loses. One message, large and high, wins the long-range view.
2. An open, inviting front
Can you see into the stand from the aisle? A winning design has no barrier across the front and a clear way in. If a counter or wall blocks the entry in the render, that's a losing design however handsome — openness is non-negotiable.
3. Visibility that pulls
Height and lighting that make the stand register across a busy hall. A winning design uses the vertical and out-lights its neighbours; a flat, dim one disappears. Check the render for a strong eye-level band above the crowd.

4. A reason to stop
A winning design builds in a draw — a demo, a feature, an activity — placed where it's seen. If the design is all display and gives a visitor nothing to do, it'll be quiet. Look for the thing that makes someone pause.
5. A place for the conversation
Above a small size, a winning design gives staff and serious visitors somewhere to talk. If there's nowhere to have the conversation that justifies the show, the design has missed the point of being there.
Score the design against the five
Hold any booth design up to these five — message, openness, visibility, a draw, a place to talk. A design that nails all five wins; one that misses two will underperform regardless of how good the render looks. For the full reasoning behind each, the complete design guide goes deeper.

Frequently asked questions
What makes a booth design a winning one?
Five things together: one clear message readable from a distance, an open inviting front, visibility from height and lighting, a built-in reason to stop, and somewhere to have a real conversation. A design that nails all five wins; missing two means it underperforms.
How do I judge a stand design I've been shown?
Score the render against five points: can you read the message from twenty metres back, can you see into the stand, does it stand out by height and light, is there a reason to stop, and is there somewhere to talk? Two misses is a warning sign.
