Under 50 m² Custom Exhibition Stands

Below fifty square metres a bespoke build has room for one architectural idea, and the discipline is to execute that idea properly rather than to fit three. This is where custom competes directly with a well-designed system, and where it has to earn the difference.

Designs we build at Under 50 m²

Open any design to see every angle and send it to us as an enquiry. Nothing here is a catalogue item — each is a completed project shown as a starting point, and a bespoke build is drawn from your brief, your products and your stand number rather than adapted from one of these.

Pricing

What a custom stand costs at Under 50 m²

A bespoke build under fifty square metres runs roughly €9,000 to €50,000, which is the widest bracket in the range as a proportion of its own size, because at this footprint the decision is not how much floor you have but how much of it is bespoke. A twenty square metre stand executed in printed panels with one shaped counter sits near the bottom; a forty-five square metre build in solid timber with a curved fascia and integrated lighting sits near the top. The floor area moves the figure far less than the specification does.

This is the range where the comparison with a reusable system is closest and most worth making honestly. A modular stand at the same footprint costs materially less and can be re-skinned for the next show. Custom wins here when the brief needs a form a system cannot make — a curve, a cantilever, a monolithic volume — or when the material has to be real rather than printed. It does not win simply because it is custom.

What the figures cover is design, structural engineering where anything is raised or suspended, bespoke fabrication, graphics, lighting, full pre-assembly in Frankfurt, venue paperwork, freight, installation and dismantling. Floor space rental is separate and substantial: at a major German show it runs somewhere between €180 and €400 per square metre before your stand exists.

If you exhibit more than twice a year at this footprint, say so before we quote. Building bespoke each time at this size is usually the expensive route, and we would rather point you at a reusable system and keep the relationship than sell you a stand that ends up in a skip.

Planning the space

Designing at Under 50 m²

One idea, executed properly

Under fifty square metres there is room for a single architectural gesture — a curve, a portal, a material wall, a monolithic counter — and not for three. Stands that try to include several end up reading as a system stand with expensive parts attached.

Material carries the difference

At this size the visitor is close to every surface, so the material choice is doing more work than the form. A solid timber counter and a printed panel of the same shape cost very differently and read very differently from two metres away.

Lead time is the real constraint

Four to six weeks from signed design for most builds at this size, driven by our workshop calendar rather than by drawing time. It is the shortest lead time in the custom range, which makes it the practical bespoke option for a late decision.

How we work

From brief to handover

STEP 1
Brief — SOL Germany process step 1

Brief

Send the show, hall, stand number and open sides. We confirm height limits and rigging rules before anything is drawn.

STEP 2
3D design — SOL Germany process step 2

3D design

A 3D concept within 48 hours, worked to your products and brand rather than dropped onto a template.

STEP 3
Quotation — SOL Germany process step 3

Quotation

An itemised quote against the approved design — structure, graphics, lighting, furniture, transport and crew, priced separately.

STEP 4
Production — SOL Germany process step 4

Production

Built and test-assembled in our Frankfurt workshop, so faults surface on our floor and not in the hall.

STEP 5
Delivery & installation — SOL Germany process step 5

Delivery & installation

We ship, build inside the organiser’s window with a project manager present, and dismantle afterwards.

Questions

Custom stands at Under 50 m² — common questions

How much does a custom stand under 50 m² cost?

Roughly €9,000–€50,000 across the European market. That is a wide bracket for a small footprint because specification rather than area drives it — printed panels and a shaped counter sit near the bottom, solid timber with a curved fascia and integrated lighting near the top. Every project is quoted from the actual drawing rather than a rate per square metre.

Is custom worth it below 50 m²?

Sometimes, and we will tell you when it is not. It earns its cost where the brief needs a form a system cannot make — a curve, a cantilever, a single monolithic volume — or where the material has to be genuinely solid rather than printed. It does not earn its cost simply by being bespoke, and at this size a well-designed modular stand is a serious competitor.

How long does it take?

Four to six weeks from signed design for most builds at this size. The constraint is our workshop calendar rather than drawing time, and it is the shortest lead time anywhere in the custom range — which makes this the practical bespoke option when a decision comes late.

Can anything be reused afterwards?

The counter and any freestanding joinery, usually. Wall structures are built to one floorplan and rarely fit the next. We flag at design stage which pieces will travel, so you can decide deliberately rather than discovering it at dismantle.

What makes a small bespoke stand look expensive?

Concentration. One well-made element with everything around it kept plain reads as considered; the same budget spread across five features reads as a system stand with extras bolted on. Visitors are close to every surface at this size, so material quality is visible in a way it is not on a large stand.

Do you handle the venue approvals?

Yes — structural calculations where anything is raised or suspended, stamped drawings, and the organiser paperwork. Even at this size a raised platform or a projecting fascia needs sign-off, and hall rules differ within the same venue.

Is the stand built before it ships?

Always. Every bespoke build is fully assembled in our Frankfurt workshop and checked before it is crated. A fabrication fault found on our floor costs hours; the same fault found in the hall costs the build-up window.

What is not included?

Floor space rental — between roughly €180 and €400 per square metre at a major German show, before the stand exists — plus venue power connection, organiser fees, AV hire, stand staff and catering. All can be arranged and quoted, none is folded into the figure above.
