Modular Exhibition Stands in Germany: When Reuse Beats a Custom Build
If you exhibit at more than one German show a year, the question isn't really custom or modular — it's how many times you'll use the stand and what it costs to move and store between shows.
If you exhibit at more than one German show a year, the question isn't really custom or modular — it's how many times you'll use the stand and what it costs to move and store between shows. Germany runs more major fairs than any country in Europe — Messe Frankfurt, München, Koelnmesse, Düsseldorf and Hannover sit within a few hours of each other — and that density changes the maths. We build for German shows from Automechanika in Frankfurt to DRUPA in Düsseldorf, and the reuse case is real here in a way it isn't everywhere.
Where modular wins on a German floor
- You exhibit repeatedly — two-plus shows a year is the rough break-even. The same frame reconfigures across Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne and Düsseldorf.
- Your footprint changes per show — a system that scales beats commissioning two custom stands.
- You want short lead times — stock profiles build faster than fabricated custom, which matters when a hall is booked late.
What it costs
- 9 m² modular: €3,800–€5,500
- 18 m² modular: €5,500–€8,500
- 24–36 m² modular with a meeting area: €9,000–€16,000
These figures cover design, build, graphics, lighting, install and dismantle. They exclude the floor-space rental you pay the organiser, the electrical and services you order through the venue, and specialty add-ons. The reusability is the saving: the second show is mostly a graphics-and-logistics cost, not a rebuild.
Storage, freight and the German reality
The argument for modular only holds if between-shows logistics are handled. A frame nobody re-inventories arrives at the next show short a part. We store reusable stands at the Frankfurt facility, re-inspect before each outing and ship to the next hall, so the reuse is real rather than a box of mismatched parts turning up on site.

So which should you choose?
Count your shows. One show, no repeat, and a statement to make: lean custom. Two-plus shows a year, changing footprints, and a finish that still needs to look serious: modular almost always wins on total cost. Most returning German clients run a modular core they reconfigure across the season, with custom elements where a specific show justifies it.

Frequently asked questions
Is a modular stand cheaper than custom in Germany?
Per show, not always. The saving shows up on the second and third use, where modular is mostly a graphics-and-logistics cost. Break-even is roughly two shows a year.
Can one modular stand work across different German shows?
Yes — the same frame reconfigures between Frankfurt, Munich and Cologne. You refresh graphics and adjust layout rather than rebuilding.
Do you store the stand between shows?
Yes — reusable stands are held at our Frankfurt facility, re-inspected before each show and shipped to the next hall.
