It was in the year 1954 that the Madeira Flower Festival first started. From a small rose festival as a tribute to the island’s abundant blooms and favorable climate, the festival overtime grew to become among the island’s most important events. That celebrates the spring season and the flowers that bloom in Madeira’s mild, subtropical climate. Today it is held in Funchal, Madeira Island’s capital, annually in the month of April or May.

– Includes Wall of Hope (Muroda Esperanca), a tradition that has been a continuous part of the festival for over 40 years – a symbolic gesture for world peace with a touching message of unity and optimism. Children walk with flowers in their hands towards Praca do Municipio to place on the wall a flower, creating a Wall of Flowers known as the ‘Wall of Hope.’ That represents the innocence and hope of future generations. - ALLEGORIC FLOWER PARADE: Witness Funchal’s streets filled with music, color, and floral perfumes. Leaving the spectators captivated with its creative themes and jaw-dropping floral artistry.

Ensuring an unforgettable sensory journey. - FLOWER CARPETS (TAPETES FLORALS): Funchal’s streets and public squares are decorated. With delicate floral carpets.
